W & G Lawyers Attends Councillor Steven Huang’s 15-Year Public Service Anniversary Dinner

On 1 August 2026, Councillor Steven Huang, Brisbane City Councillor and Deputy Chair of Council, celebrated his 15th anniversary in public service at a special dinner held at Maple Garden Restaurant in Brisbane.

Melinda Gao, Principal Solicitor of W & G Lawyers, attended the event on behalf of the firm, joining more than 300 guests from government, business and Brisbane’s multicultural communities in recognising this significant milestone.

The evening was hosted in both English and Chinese by Paul Shih and Shannon Wong, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for guests.

Distinguished attendees included Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner, Deputy Mayor Fiona Cunningham, Senator Paul Scarr, Civic Cabinet Chair for Public Transport Andrew Wines, as well as numerous business leaders and community representatives.

In his address, Councillor Huang reflected on his 15 years of public service and expressed his sincere appreciation to his family, volunteers and members of the community who had supported him throughout his journey. He emphasised that public service is both a responsibility and a long-term commitment to the community.

Councillor Huang also reaffirmed his commitment to serving Brisbane residents, supporting the city’s continued development and strengthening understanding and cooperation among people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner acknowledged Councillor Huang’s longstanding contribution to Brisbane City Council and the wider community. He particularly recognised Councillor Huang’s dedication to supporting local residents, promoting multicultural engagement and building stronger connections between Brisbane’s diverse communities.

The evening featured musical performances, a calligraphy presentation, an auction, a formal toast and a lucky draw. Young calligrapher Huangkun Zhu presented specially created works to Councillor Huang and Lord Mayor Schrinner, conveying wishes for continued dedication to public service, prosperity for Brisbane and harmony across its multicultural communities.

The auction received enthusiastic support from guests and raised funds for Councillor Huang’s future public service and campaign activities. The formal toast and lucky draw brought the evening to a lively and memorable conclusion.

The celebration not only recognised Councillor Huang’s 15 years of public service, but also reflected the strength, unity and community spirit of multicultural Brisbane.
