On the evening of Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the W & G Lawyers team attended the 2026 Federal Budget Dinner at Golden Lane Restaurant in Sunnybank Plaza.
The dinner was jointly hosted by Peter Russo MP, State Member for Toohey; the Hon Leanne Enoch MP, State Member for Algester; and James Martin MP, State Member for Stretton. Special guests included the Hon Jim Chalmers MP, Federal Member for Rankin and Treasurer of Australia, and the Hon Shannon Fentiman MP, State Member for Waterford.
Through the speakers’ presentations and conversations with community members and professionals from different sectors, our team gained further insight into the Federal Budget, the broader economic environment, community development and relevant policy directions. Economic conditions and government policies can directly affect businesses, families and individuals, and understanding these developments assists us in providing practical and informed legal services.
The evening also featured an art auction. W & G Lawyers directors Melinda Gao and Nancy Wang successfully acquired two meaningful items: a Senate Tea Towel signed by Senator the Hon Penny Wong and an artwork by Aunty Peggy Tidyman, a respected Gunggari Elder and First Nations artist based in Logan.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to learn, build professional connections and strengthen communication across our team. W & G Lawyers will continue to remain informed about economic and policy developments, engage with the wider community and provide professional, practical and compassionate legal services to our clients.
