Boost to Buy: Co-Own Your First Home with the Queensland Government

Saving for a house deposit feels impossible?
Tired of watching property prices rise while your savings stay flat?
Good news — the Queensland Government’s new Boost to Buy scheme might be your chance to finally get on the property ladder.

 What Is Boost to Buy?

Boost to Buy is a shared equity scheme — that means you and the government buy a home together, and each own a share.

  • It’s not a loan.
  • It’s not a grant.
  •  It’s a smart way to reduce how much you need upfront.

Key Features at a Glance

What Should You Know?

Before you apply, it’s important to understand:

  •  You’re co-owning the home with the government
  • When you sell or refinance, you’ll need to repay their share
  •  You’ll sign a shared equity agreement with the State Government outlining everyone’s rights and responsibilities

This is a legal relationship — make sure you understand it before you commit.

What About Stamp Duty or Land Tax?

If eligible, you may also qualify for:

  • Stamp duty concessions
  • Land tax exemptions (for your principal place of residence)

These are administered by the Queensland Revenue Office (QRO)
